Timber fencing still suits huge parts of Brisbane, especially around Queenslander and character streets in Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Paddington and Norman Park where a steel fence would look wrong out the front. We build hardwood and treated pine paling fences in standard paling, lap and cap, and good neighbour (alternating palings both sides) styles.
Everything is built for the climate: galvanised posts or treated timber set in concrete, hot-dipped fixings, and palings gapped so they can move without cupping in a wet Brisbane February. If you want to stain or oil it later, we leave it ready for that.

A fence is only as good as the gate you use every day. We build single pedestrian gates, double gates for trailers and mowers, and sliding gates where a swing gate won't fit — common on the narrow side setbacks you get all through the inner south.
Gates are made to match your fence in the same colour or timber, hung on heavy-duty hinges, and adjusted on the day so they latch first time and keep latching once the ground moves. We can also leave provision for an automated opener if that's on the list later.

Repairs

Brisbane storm season snaps posts, lifts panels and drops branches through fences every summer. We do repair work as real work, not as a favour — replacing snapped or rotted posts, re-sheeting damaged Colorbond panels, swapping out broken palings, straightening leaning runs and re-hanging gates that have dropped.
If a repair is throwing good money at a fence that is nearly finished, we will tell you that up front and price both options so you can choose. Photos texted through are usually enough for us to give you a ballpark before we come out.

Plenty of Brisbane suburbs are built on hills — Everton Park, Ferny Grove, Seven Hills, Bardon, Holland Park — and a level change often has to be sorted before a fence makes sense. We build concrete sleeper and treated timber retaining walls up to 1m high (roughly five sleepers), with galvanised steel posts, drainage aggregate and ag line behind the wall so water has somewhere to go.
Walls and fences are quoted together as one job, so you are not coordinating two trades or paying twice for the same site setup. Anything taller than 1m needs engineering and certification, and we'll point you in the right direction rather than build it under-spec.

What fence height can I build in Brisbane?
Boundary and rear fences are typically 1.8m, which is what most Brisbane Council areas accept without approval for a standard dividing fence. We also build 1.5m and 2.1m. Front fences, corner blocks with sight-line rules, pool fencing and heritage or character overlays have extra conditions — we flag those when we quote so nothing gets built that has to come back down.
